Back in October, during my fall break, I decided to shake up the MBR with a total DIY makeover. Billy painted the walls and I did the rest. Here are some pics to show the transformation. I wished that I had taken a for-real before pic of the MBR, but honestly was too embarrassed to show how outdated it was. So here it is in progress:
In the midst of repainting the honey oak furniture with Farrell-Calhoun Chocolate.
Wall color is Behr Paint Anonymous. I removed and spray painted the brass hardware, picture frames, and curtain rod with Rustoleum Metal Finish that cost $3. The curtains are made from burlap for $9.00.
I found these awesome lamps at Big Lots for $50 each. I distressed the oak wash stand to use as my bedside table using paint and sandpaper. It took about 4 days but cost about $10.
Here is the other side of the bed with Billy's nightstand using the same technique.
Made the headboard myself using a large piece of plywood, quilt batting, burlap, and upholstery tacks. Billy helped me cover it using a staple gun to secure it. Then I hammered away with the finishing tacks. My son-in-law Greyson hung it using a flush mount. Total cost for headboard was less than $50.
Billy's grandfather's chair on the left was my inspiration. The bedding came from Pottery Barn and Bed Bath and Beyond. I used pics and frames I already had and added a few discount items from Hobby Lobby. Still have photos to frame and a few things to add, but we love our new boudoir, as Billy prefers to call it!
