Kaitlin and Daniel's Tennessee Adventure

Unless you've been sleeping under a rock, I'm sure you have heard about the flooding in TN, KY, and MS this past weekend. Kaitlin and Daniel were in Memphis for a short visit. In between tornado warnings,they left on Saturday around noon to travel to Nashville for a wedding and then on to Bowling Green. Little did they know what was ahead of them-a 50 hour long adventure through Tennessee. They were turned back several times on the interstate and were unable to make it to Nashville, so they spent the night with Daniel's cousin on Saturday night and tried again on Sunday. They were turned back on the interstate again near Nashville and ended up staying in a less than 1 star motel in Dickson. Finally on Monday, they were able to get to Clarksville, even though it took them 3 hours to go 5 miles because of a washed out bridge. After getting through Clarksville, it was on to Bowling Green-they finally made it back there on Monday afternoon. Here are some pictures from their adventure.

Why Easter?

From "Love Lusters At Calvary"

Christ was all anguish that I might be all joy,
cast off that I might be brought in,
trodden down as an enemy that I might be welcomed as a friend,
surrendered to hell’s worst that I might attain heaven’s best,
stripped that I might be clothed,
wounded that I might be healed,
athirst that I might drink,
tormented that I might be comforted,
made a shame that I might inherit glory,
entered darkness that I might have eternal light.

My Saviour wept that all tears might be wiped from my eyes,
groaned that I might have endless song,
endured all pain that I might have unfading health,
bore a thorny crown that I might have a glory-diadem,
bowed his head that I might uplift mine,
experienced reproach that I might receive welcome,
closed his eyes in death that I might gaze on unclouded brightness,
expired that I might for ever live.

Matthew 28:1-6
Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
"He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

From "In Christ Alone" by Keith Getty and Stuart Townsend
There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.
